Are you a highly effective family?
Johannesburg, 01 June 2008 - How effective are you with the most important organisation in the world - your family?
Dr Stephen R Covey, the world-renowned author and leadership guru, who recently visited South Africa on behalf of FranklinCovey Southern Africa and Life College, joined families for a two-hour workshop, which was held at the Wits Great Hall on Sunday 1 June.
Based on Dr Covey’s highly acclaimed The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families workshop, explored ways in which families can apply similar techniques to build strong, close-knit, principle-centred relationships.
“To build strong relationships and develop a common language for family members to better understand each other, individuals need to establish a proven and successful principle-centered framework,” MD of FranklinCovey Southern Africa, one of the largest leadership training organisations in the world, Adele Hall says. “The seven habits will help keep your family’s priorities intact day in and day out.”
Life College, a replicable social business that offers character education and leadership development to children, teens, young adults, their families, communities and corporates, has been licensed by FranklinCovey Southern Africa to offer The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens workshop.
The workshop is based on the best-selling book of the same name by Sean Covey, Dr Stephen R Covey’s son.
“Students will learn the time-tested principles of The 7 Habits and how to apply them to the tough issues and life-changing decisions they face,” says the CEO and founder of Life College, Pat Pillai.
“The course develops an ability to have more self-control over one's life and one's choices. It is a means for teens and young adults to improve performance; deal with conflict, and build confidence and aims to enhance cooperation and teamwork among parents, teens and teachers.” says Pillai.
Life College strives to produce youth who are self-starters, responsible, disciplined champions of their own lives, have a success mentality and are independent thinkers. To keep the students motivated, the college has a mentorship programme, known as the Life Champion Leadership Programme, with some of the world’s most successful people, including the likes of Dr Covey, Richard Branson, Annie Lennox, Tim Modise, Natalie Du Toit and 50 others.
